Start the ABC-ES1 virtual machine
and log on as a domain administrator.
- Select ESLT_3.5.ISO from
the DVD Drive drop-down list.
- Open
My Computer.
- Right-click CD
Drive (D:) and click Open.
- Double-click AUTORUN.EXE to
launch the EdgeSight for Load Testing installation. The EdgeSight for
Load Testing installation screen appears.
- Click EdgeSight
for Load Testing Installation. The Citrix EdgeSight for Load Testing
Setup screen appears.
- Click Next.
The End-User License Agreement appears.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next. The Setup Type
screen appears.
- Click Custom.
The Feature Selection screen appears.
- Enable
the installation of the Web Interface XML Service
Connector feature.
The
following features should now be enabled for installation:
- Load
Testing Controller
- Load
Testing Launcher
- Web
Interface XML Service Connector
- Click Next.
- Click Install.
The EdgeSight for Load Testing installation begins.
- Click Finish when
the installation completes. The Citrix EdgeSight for Load Testing Setup
screen closes.
- Close
the EdgeSight for Load Testing wizard.
- Click Start > Run .
- Type \\FILER1\PUBLIC\CLIENTS and
click OK.
- Double-click
the XA_HOSTED_PLUG-IN_11.1.1.MSI file.
- Select English and
click OK. The Citrix XenApp Plugin for Hosted Apps Installation
screen appears.
- Click Next.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next.
- Click Next to
accept the default clients to install.
- Type WebInterface in
the Server address field and click Next.
- Click Next to
accept the default program folder path.
- Click Next to
accept the default client name settings.
- Click Next to
accept the default single sign-on settings.
- Click Next.
The XenApp Plugin for Hosted Apps installation begins.
- Click Finish.
The Citrix XenApp Plugin for Hosted Apps Installation screen closes.
- Close
the Citrix XenApp authentication screen.
- Double-click
the XENAPPSTREAMING.EXE file in the \\FILER1\PUBLIC\CLIENTS directory.
- Select English and
click OK. The Citrix Offline plug-in Setup screen appears.
- Click Next.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next.
- Click Install to
accept the default destination program folder path. The Citrix Offline
plug-in installation begins.
- Click Finish.
The Citrix Offline plug-in Setup screen closes.
- Click Yes to
restart the ABC-ES1 virtual machine. The ABC-ES1 virtual machine
restarts.
- Log
on as a domain administrator to the ABC-ES1 virtual machine.
- Log in as
a domain administrator to the ABC-WI1 virtual machine.
- Select ESLT_3.5.ISO from
the DVD Drive drop-down list.
- Open
My Computer.
- Right-click CD
Drive (D:) and click Open.
- Double-click AUTORUN.EXE to
launch the EdgeSight for Load Testing installation. The EdgeSight for
Load Testing installation screen appears.
- Click Web
Interface Support Installation. The Citrix EdgeSight Web Interface
Support Setup screen appears.
- Click Next.
The End-User License Agreement appears.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next. The User Info
screen appears.
- Authenticate
using the following credentials:
- Username: ABC-\Administrator
- Password: Password1
- Click Validate.
A Citrix EdgeSight success screen appears.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
The Website Selection screen appears.
- Select /Citrix/XenApp and
click Next. The Ready to Install screen appears.
- Click Install.
The Web Interface Support installation begins.
- Click Finish when
the installation completes. The Citrix EdgeSight Web Interface Support
Setup screen closes.
- Close
the EdgeSight for Load Testing wizard.
- Open the
Server Manager console and expand
the Configuration > Local Users and Groups node in
the left pane.
- Click Groups in
the left pane and double-click the EdgeSightWISecurity group.
The EdgeSightWISecurity Properties screen appears.
- Click Add.
The Select Users, Computers, or Groups screen appears.
- Type ESLT
Test Group in the Object name field and click Check Names.
- Click OK.
The Select Users, Computers, or Groups screen closes.
- Click OK.
The EdgeSightWISecurity Properties screen closes.
- Click Start > All
Programs > Citrix > Citrix EdgeSight for Load
Testing > LT Controller . The Citrix EdgeSight for Load
Testing Controller appears.
- Read
the Before You Begin screen and click OK.
- Type Password1 in
the Load Testing Password field and click OK.
- Click Licenses > License
Server Configuration . The License Server Configuration screen
appears.
- Type ABC-DMC1 in
the Connect To field and click OK. The License Server Configuration
screen closes.
- Right-click Test in
the left pane and click Add Script. The Script Properties screen
appears.
- Type ESLT
Word 2007 Test in the Name field and click OK. The Script
Properties screen closes.
- Right-click ESLT
Word 2007 Test > Load in the left pane and
click Add Load. The Load Properties screen appears
- Type 5 in
the Load Duration field.
- Configure
the Load Control Type with the following properties:
- At
Start: 1 user
- At
End: 5 users
- Click Rate
Control and provide the following properties:
- At
Start: 30 seconds
- At
End: 30 seconds
- Click OK.
The Load Properties screen closes.
- Right-click Connections in
the left pane and click Add Connection. The Connection Properties
screen appears.
- Type LOCALHOST in
the Connect From field.
- Select Web
Interface and click Access. The Web Interface Access
Credentials screen appears.
- Deselect Use
the logged in user's credential and authenticate with the following
credentials:
- Username: ESLT1
- Password: Password1
- Domain: ABC-
- Click OK.
The Web Interface Access Credentials screen closes.
- Click Browse.
- Type 192.168.2.20 in
the Server Address field. This is the IP address of the ABC-WI1 virtual
machine.
- Type
the following credentials in the corresponding Connect As fields:
- Username: ESLT1
- Password: Password1
- Domain: ABC-
- Click Search.
A connection is made to the Web Interface servers to see what resources
exist. This process may take several minutes to complete.
- Click Word and
click Select.
- Click OK.
The Connection Properties screen closes.
- Right-click LOCALHOST in
the left pane and click Add Users. The Add Users To Connection
screen appears.
- Type 5 in
the Count field.
- Type
the following credentials in the corresponding authentication fields:
- Username: ESLT
- Select
the # option next to the Username field.
- Starting
at #: 1
- Password: Password1
- Domain: ABC-
- Click OK.
The Add Users To Connection screen closes.
- Click Start > All
Programs > Citrix > Citrix EdgeSight for Load
Testing > LT Launcher . The EdgeSight Launcher appears.
- Minimize
the Load Testing Launcher.
- Within
the Citrix EdgeSight for Load Testing Controller, right-click ESLT
Word 2007 Test > Instructions in the left pane and
click Record Instructions.
- Click Yes to
begin recording. A recording test window appears and documents all
actions performed in a Microsoft Word test session.
- Within
the recording test window, spend 30-45 seconds performing actions that
simulate a user's interaction with Microsoft Word 2007.
Examples
of user interaction include:
- Typing
content
- Modifying
the font, font size and display elements of the content
- Adding
tables to the content
- When
finished recording, click the Office Button in the top left
corner and click Exit Word.
Using
the X button in the top right corner will improperly disconnect from the
Microsoft Word test session and will result in a corrupted EdgeSight for Load
Testing script.
- Click No.
The Microsoft Word test session ends and a list of instructions populate
within the ESLT Word 2007 Test > Instructions node.
- Within
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine, open the EdgeSight for Load Testing
Controller.
- Click File > Save .
- Type ESLT
Word 2007 Test and save the test script to the Desktop.
- Click Test > Replay .
The EdgeSight for Load Testing test script starts and five Citrix
EdgeSight user sessions appear in the taskbar.
- If
the five Citrix EdgeSight user session windows are not separated in the
taskbar, right-click the group of sessions and click Show Windows
Side by Side. The five Citrix EdgeSight user sessions can now be seen
performing the actions recorded in the test script.
- Log
on as a domain administrator to the ABC-XAPVS1 virtual machine.
- Expand
the ABC-_XA_Farm node in the left pane and click Servers.
- Right-click Servers and
click All Tasks > Change
Display > Users .
- Verify
that there are sessions for the different ESLT user accounts and that the
users are connecting to the Word application.
User
accounts will only appear while the test scripts are active on the ABC-ES1
virtual machine.
- Click Start > Run .
- Type SERVICES.MSC and
click OK. The Service Control Manager screen appears.
- If
the status of the Citrix System Monitoring Agent service displays
Stopping, click the Citrix System Monitoring Agent service and
click Restart.
- Close
the Services screen.
- Select ES_52.ISO from
the DVD Drive drop-down list.
- Open
My Computer.
- Right-click CD
Drive (D:) and click Open.
- Double-click AUTORUN.EXE to
launch the EdgeSight 5.2 installation. The Citrix EdgeSight 5.2
installation screen appears.
- Click EdgeSight
Server.
- Select English and
click Continue. The Citrix EdgeSight Installer 5.2 screen appears.
- Click Next.
The Select Features screen appears.
- Click EdgeSight
Server Website and Database and click Next. The Prerequisite
Check screen appears.

- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next. The Choose
Setup Type screen appears.
- Click Custom and
click Next. The Database Server screen appears.
- Click Choose
an existing database server and select ABC-SQL1.

the Install a new EdgeSight Database field and click Next. The

- Click Install.
The EdgeSight installation begins.
- Click Finish.
The EdgeSight Server website appears. EdgeSight will be configured in the
following Part.
- Click Exit to
close the installation screen.
- Click Next in
the EdgeSight Server website.
- Type ABC
airlinesin the Name field.
- Select (GMT-8:00)
Pacific Time from the Time Zone drop-down list and click Next.
- Click No if
prompted to turn AutoComplete on.
- Provide
the following credentials:

The
_ES@ABC-.Local account will be used as the Superuser account.

remaining Citrix EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent licenses.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
The EdgeSight Server browser portal authentication site appears.
- Authenticate
using the following credentials:
- E-mail

The
EdgeSight Server browser portal appears.
- Minimize
the EdgeSight Server browser portal.
- Confirm
that ES_52.ISO is selected in the DVD Drive drop-down list.
- Open
My Computer.

launch the EdgeSight 5.2 installation. The Citrix EdgeSight 5.2
installation screen appears.
- Click EdgeSight
Component Installers > EdgeSight Agent Database

- Click Next.
The End-User License Agreement appears.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next. The Network
Settings screen appears.
- Type ABC-ES1 in
the Database Broker field and click Next. The Agent Location screen
appears.
- Type WinXP
Pool in the Pool Name field and click Next.
- Click Install.
The Citrix EdgeSight Agent Database Server installation begins.
- Click Finish when
the installation completes. The Citrix EdgeSight Agent Database Server

- Click Exit to

- Select WFSTUDIO_20.ISO in
the DVD Drive drop-down list.

My Computer.
- Double-click CD
Drive (D:). The Citrix Workflow Studio 2.0 Wizard appears.
- Click Workflow
Studio. A Windows Version warning screen appears on the Prerequisite
screen.
- Click Install.
- Click Next.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next.
- Select Citrix
XenApp from the Product list and click Next.
- Type ABC-DMC1 in
the Host name field and click Next.
- Click Next to
accept the default Destination Folder settings.
- Click Install.
- Click Finish when
the installation completes. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration -
Workflow Database screen appears.
- Type ABC-SQL1 in
the Server field and click Connect. A message appears stating that
the specified database does not exist.
- Click Create
Database. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - TCP Port Sharing
screen appears.
- Click Enable
TCP Port Sharing. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Workflow
Runtimes screen appears.
- Click Add to
create a Workflow Runtime.
There
is a known issue that the newly created Workflow Runtime Host Service will not
start properly if no Internet access is available. To prevent this issue, the
option to check for publisher and server certificate revocation must be
disabled in the Internet options for Internet Explorer. For the purposes of
this class, these options have already been disabled.
- Select This
account.
- Type ABC-\Administrator in
the Username field and Password1 in the Password field and
click OK.
The
credentials typed in the Username and Password fields are case sensitive and
must be typed as written for the Part to work properly.
- Click Continue.
The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Security screen appears.
- Click Store
in Active Directory. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Role
Store screen appears.
- Click Create
role store. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Security Service
screen appears.
- Authenticate
using the following credentials:
- Username: ABC-\Administrator
- Password: Password1
The
credentials typed in the Username and Password fields are case sensitive and
must be typed as written for the Part to work properly.
- Click Validate.
- Click Continue.
The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Firewall screen appears.
- Click Continue.
The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Review Changes screen appears.
- Click Apply.
- Verify
that all of the components are installed successfully and
click Close. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration screen closes.
- Within
the Citrix Workflow Studio 2.0 Wizard, click Activity Libraries. A
Group Policy Management Console warning screen appears on the
Prerequisite screen.
- Click Install.
The Citrix Workflow Studio Activity Libraries InstallShield Wizard
appears.
- Click Next.
- Click Next to
install the default program features.
- Click Install.
The Citrix Workflow Studio Activity Libraries installation begins.
- Click Finish.
The Citrix Workflow Studio Activity Libraries InstallShield Wizard
closes.
- Close
the Citrix Workflow Studio 2.0 Wizard.
- Open the
Workflow Studio console.
- Confirm
the following values appear and click Logon:

The
Citrix Workflow Studio console appears.
- Right-click Workflows in
the top left pane and click Create Category.
- Name
the category EdgeSight.
- Click Create
Workflow in the right pane. The Create Workflow option is located in
the Workflow Tasks menu on the right-hand side of the console.
- Type StartXenAppVM in
the Name field and click OK. The Workflow Studio Designer screen
appears.
- Expand
the Citrix XenServer node in the Activities pane.
- Click
and drag the Connect to Server activity to the center design
surface.
- Type 192.168.1.10 in
the Host Name or IP Address field in the right pane. This is the IP
address of the XenServer_1 host server.
- Click
in the Password field and click the ... button. The Password
screen appears.
- Type myxenpw and
click OK. The Password screen closes.
- Expand
the Citrix XenServer > VM node in the Activities
pane.
- Click
and drag the Get VM activity to the center design surface
beneath the connectToServer activity.
- Type ABC-XAPVS2 in
the VM Name field in the right pane.
Ensure
that the * is removed before you begin typing.
- Click
and drag the Start VM activity to the center design surface
beneath the getVM activity.
- Type XenServer_1 in
the Host name field in the right pane.
- Click
in the VM to Start field and select ListOutput from the
drop-down list.
- Click
and drag the Disconnect From Server activity to the center
design surface beneath the startVM activity.
- Click Save.
If the workflow is configured properly, the message "The build was
successful" will appear at the bottom of the Workflow Studio
Designer screen.
- Within
the XenCenter console, verify that the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual machine is shut
down.
- Within
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine, click the Start button at the top
of the Workflow Studio Designer screen. Each of the workflow activities
is tested. After all four activities are tested, the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual
machine starts.
- Close
the StartXenAppVM workflow.
- Shutdown
the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual machine.
- Within
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine, click the Security button in the
left pane of the Workflow Studio console. A warning screen appears.
- Click Yes to
register a server. The Add Server screen appears.
- Type ABC-ES1 and
click OK. The Add Server screen closes.
- Click Add
Role Assignment in the right pane. The Add role assignments to
servers screen appears.
- Click Add.
The Select Users or Groups screen appears.
- Type ABC-\Administrator in
the Object Name field and click Check Names. The Multiple Names
Found screen appears.
- Select
the Built-in Administrator account and click OK. The
Multiple Names Found screen closes.
- Click OK.
The Select Users or Groups screen closes.
- Click Next.
- Select
the following roles:
- Perform
all jobs and security operations
- Start
deployed jobs
- Schedule
deployed jobs through Task Scheduler
- Click Next.
The security updates are applied.
- Click Finish.
The Add role assignments to servers screen closes.
- Within
the Workflow Studio console, click the Workflows button in the
left pane.
- Click
the StartXenAppVM workflow and click Create Job in
the right pane. The Create New Workflow Job screen appears.
- Type ABC-ES1 in
the Server field and click Next if not automatically forwarded
to the Specify scheduling for this job screen.
- Select Custom
Schedule and click Edit Schedule. The New Task Schedule screen
appears.
- Select Once from
the Schedule Task drop-down list.
- Schedule
a task date one week from today's date and click OK. The New Task
Schedule screen closes.
- Click Finish.
The Create New Workflow Job screen closes and a new task is created.
- Minimize
the Workflow Studio console.
- Log on as
a domain administrator to the ABC-DDC1 virtual machine.
- Open
the Access Management Console and expand the Desktop Delivery
Controller > ABC-_XD_Farm > Desktop
Groups nodes in the left pane.
- Click WinXP
Pool. A list of the four provisioned desktops appears.
If
all four provisioned desktops appear in the XenCenter console as Started, but
appear as 'Not Registered' in the Access Management Console, verify that the
ABC-inXP1-4 virtual machines were able to start properly. If the ABC-inXP1-4
virtual machines did not start properly, verify that the ABC-PVSRV1 and
ABC-PVSRV2 virtual machines are running on separate XenServer hosts. If
necessary, XenMotion ABC-PVSRV2 to the other XenServer host and restart the
ABC-inXP1-4 virtual machines.
- Select
all four virtual desktops and click Enable maintenance mode in
the Tasks pane. Users are now unable to connect to any of the four
desktops.
- Click Shutdown/suspend in
the Task pane. The Shutdown/suspend screen appears.
- Select Shut
down and click OK. The virtual desktops shut down.
- Log on as
a domain administrator to the ABC-PVSRV1 virtual machine.
- Open
the Provisioning Services Console.
- Expand
the ABC-_PVS_Farm > Stores nodes and
click Filer1.
- Right-click WinXPMaster and
click Properties. The vDisk Properties screen appears.
- Click Edit
File Properties. The vDisk File Properties screen appears.
- Click
the Mode tab and select Private Image from the Access
Mode drop-down list.
- Click OK.
The vDisk File Properties screen closes.
- Click OK.
The vDisk Properties screen closes.
- Within
the Access Management Console, select the ABC-inXP1 virtual desktop and
click Disable maintenance mode in the Tasks pane.
- Click Start in
the Tasks pane. The ABC-inXP1 virtual desktop starts.
- Log
on to the ABC-inXP1 virtual machine as a domain administrator.
- Close
the Citrix XenApp authentication screen.
- Within
the XenCenter console, select ES_52.ISO in the DVD Drive drop-down
list.
- Open
My Computer.
- Right-click CD
Drive (D:) and click Open.
- Double-click AUTORUN.EXE to
launch the EdgeSight 5.2 installation. The Citrix EdgeSight 5.2
installation screen appears.
- Click EdgeSight
Agent Installers.
- Click EdgeSight
for Endpoints Agent. The Citrix EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent Setup
screen appears.
- Click Next.
The End-User License Agreement appears.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next. The Product
Information screen appears.
- Type ABC
airlinesin the Company field.
- Type Operations in
the Department field and click Next. The Agent Location screen
appears.
- Click Next to
accept the default installation locations. The Network Settings screen
appears.
- Type ABC-ES1 in
the Server Name field and click Next. The Advanced Settings screen
appears.
- Click Configure
the agent for virtual desktops.
- Type \\FILER1\EDGESIGHT in
the Remote UNC Path.
- Type WinXP
Pool in the Pool Name field.
- Type ABC-ES1 in
the Database Broker field and click Next.
- Click Install.
The Citrix EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent installation begins.
- Click Finish when
the installation completes. The Citrix EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent
Setup screen closes.
- Click Yes to
restart the ABC-inXP1 virtual machine. ABC-WinXP1 restarts.
- Log
on as a domain administrator to the ABC-inXP1 virtual machine.
- Close
the Citrix XenApp authentication screen.
- Click Start > Run .
- Type SERVICES.MSC and
click OK. The Service Control Manager screen appears.
- Right-click
the Citrix System Monitoring Agent service and
click Properties. The Citrix System Monitoring Agent Properties
screen appears.
- Select Automatic from
the Startup Type drop-down list and click OK. The Citrix System
Monitoring Agent Properties screen closes.
- Close
the Service Control Manager.
- Within
the ABC-DDC1 virtual machine, select the ABC-inXP1 virtual
desktop within the Access Management Console.
- Click Enable
maintenance mode in the Tasks pane.
- Click Yes in
the warning screen.
- Within
the ABC-inXP1 virtual machine, click Start > Shut
Down . The ABC-inXP1 virtual desktop shuts down and the changes are
saved to the vDisk.
- Open the
Provisioning Services Console.
- Expand
the ABC-_PVS_Farm > Stores nodes and
click Filer1.
- Right-click
the WinXPMaster vDisk and click Properties. The vDisk
Properties screen appears.
- Click Edit
File Properties. The vDisk File Properties screen appears.
- Click
the Mode tab and select Standard Image from the
Access Mode drop-down list.
- Click OK.
The vDisk File Properties screen closes.
- Click OK.
The vDisk Properties screen closes.
- Within
the ABC-DDC1 virtual machine, select all four virtual desktops from the
Access Management Console.
- Click Disable
maintenance mode. Users are now able to connect to any of the four
desktops.
Use the following procedure to
configure an EdgeSight Server Alert Rule on the ABC-ES1 virtual machine.

Log on as a domain administrator to
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine.
- Open
a browser and browse to http://ABC-ES1/EdgeSight.
- Authenticate
with the following credentials:
- E-mail
address: _ES@ABC-.Local
- Password: Password1
- Click
the Configure tab and click Company
Configuration > Alerts > Rules in the left
pane.
- Click New
Alert Rule.
- Select XenApp
Performance Alerts and click Next.
- Select

Session Count in the Rule Name field.

The
user name supplied in this field must match the user name identified to create
the Workflow Runtime service.
- Type 20 in
the Timeout (seconds) field.
A
value must be set in the Timeout (seconds) field for an Action to work

- Maximize
the Citrix-WFS Properties screen and copy the text from the Add
arguments field and paste it in the Command Line
Arguments field.
The
text copied from the Citrix-WFS Properties screen contains the Workflow Runtime
service name as well as the unique job ID value for the scheduled job.
- Click Next.

The StartXenAppVM Workflow Alert Action is saved.
- Login
as a domain administrator to the ABC-PVSRV1 virtual machine.

re-configured with the domain controller.

- Click Groups in
the left pane and double-click the EdgeSightWISecurity group.
The EdgeSightWISecurity Properties screen appears.
- Click Add.
The Select Users, Computers, or Groups screen appears.
- Type ESLT
Test Group in the Object name field and click Check Names.
- Click OK.
The Select Users, Computers, or Groups screen closes.

Configure
the EdgeSight for Load Testing Test Script
Use
the following procedure to configure the EdgeSight for Load Testing test script
on the ABC-ES1 virtual machine.

Testing > LT Controller . The Citrix EdgeSight for Load
Testing Controller appears.
- Read
the Before You Begin screen and click OK.

begin recording. A recording test window appears and documents all
actions performed in a Microsoft Word test session.
- Within
the recording test window, spend 30-45 seconds performing actions that
simulate a user's interaction with Microsoft Word 2007.
Examples
of user interaction include:
- Typing
content
- Modifying
the font, font size and display elements of the content
- Adding
tables to the content
- When
finished recording, click the Office Button in the top left
corner and click Exit Word.
Using
the X button in the top right corner will improperly disconnect from the
Microsoft Word test session and will result in a corrupted EdgeSight for Load
Testing script.
- Click No.
The Microsoft Word test session ends and a list of instructions populate
within the ESLT Word 2007 Test > Instructions node.
Test
the EdgeSight for Load Testing Installation
Use
the following procedure to test the EdgeSight for Load Testing test script on
the ABC-ES1 and ABC-XAPVS1 virtual machines.
- Within
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine, open the EdgeSight for Load Testing
Controller.
- Click File > Save .
- Type ESLT
Word 2007 Test and save the test script to the Desktop.
- Click Test > Replay .
The EdgeSight for Load Testing test script starts and five Citrix
EdgeSight user sessions appear in the taskbar.
- If
the five Citrix EdgeSight user session windows are not separated in the
taskbar, right-click the group of sessions and click Show Windows
Side by Side. The five Citrix EdgeSight user sessions can now be seen
performing the actions recorded in the test script.
- Log
on as a domain administrator to the ABC-XAPVS1 virtual machine.
- Expand
the ABC-_XA_Farm node in the left pane and click Servers.
- Right-click Servers and
click All Tasks > Change
Display > Users .
- Verify
that there are sessions for the different ESLT user accounts and that the
users are connecting to the Word application.
User
accounts will only appear while the test scripts are active on the ABC-ES1
virtual machine.
- Click Start > Run .
- Type SERVICES.MSC and
click OK. The Service Control Manager screen appears.
- If
the status of the Citrix System Monitoring Agent service displays
Stopping, click the Citrix System Monitoring Agent service and
click Restart.
- Close
the Services screen.
Part 2: Install EdgeSight Server
Install
EdgeSight Server
Use
the following procedure to install EdgeSight Server on the ABC-ES1 virtual
machine.
- Select ES_52.ISO from
the DVD Drive drop-down list.
- Open

- Right-click CD
Drive (D:) and click Open.
- Double-click AUTORUN.EXE to
launch the EdgeSight 5.2 installation. The Citrix EdgeSight 5.2
installation screen appears.
- Click EdgeSight
Server.
- Select English and
click Continue. The Citrix EdgeSight Installer 5.2 screen appears.
- Click Next.
The Select Features screen appears.
- Click EdgeSight
Server Website and Database and click Next. The Prerequisite
Check screen appears.
- Click Next.
The End-User License Agreement appears.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next. The Choose
Setup Type screen appears.
- Click Custom and
click Next. The Database Server screen appears.
- Click Choose
an existing database server and select ABC-SQL1.

Install
Workflow Studio
Use
the following procedure to install Workflow Studio on the ABC-ES1 virtual
machine.
- Select WFSTUDIO_20.ISO in
the DVD Drive drop-down list.
- Open
My Computer.
- Double-click CD
Drive (D:). The Citrix Workflow Studio 2.0 Wizard appears.
- Click Workflow
Studio. A Windows Version warning screen appears on the Prerequisite
screen.
- Click Install.
- Click Next.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next.
- Select Citrix
XenApp from the Product list and click Next.
- Type ABC-DMC1 in
the Host name field and click Next.
- Click Next to
accept the default Destination Folder settings.
- Click Install.
- Click Finish when
the installation completes. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration -
Workflow Database screen appears.
- Type ABC-SQL1 in
the Server field and click Connect. A message appears stating that
the specified database does not exist.
- Click Create
Database. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - TCP Port Sharing
screen appears.
- Click Enable
TCP Port Sharing. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Workflow
Runtimes screen appears.
- Click Add to
create a Workflow Runtime.
There
is a known issue that the newly created Workflow Runtime Host Service will not
start properly if no Internet access is available. To prevent this issue, the
option to check for publisher and server certificate revocation must be
disabled in the Internet options for Internet Explorer. For the purposes of
this class, these options have already been disabled.
- Select This
account.
- Type ABC-\Administrator in
the Username field and Password1 in the Password field and
click OK.
The
credentials typed in the Username and Password fields are case sensitive and
must be typed as written for the Part to work properly.
- Click Continue.
The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Security screen appears.
- Click Store
in Active Directory. The Citrix Workflow Studio Configuration - Role

a Workflow
Use

Workflow in the right pane. The Create Workflow option is located in
the Workflow Tasks menu on the right-hand side of the console.
- Type StartXenAppVM in
the Name field and click OK. The Workflow Studio Designer screen
appears.
- Expand
the Citrix XenServer node in the Activities pane.
- Click
and drag the Connect to Server activity to the center design
surface.
- Type 192.168.1.10 in
the Host Name or IP Address field in the right pane. This is the IP
address of the XenServer_1 host server.
- Click
in the Password field and click the ... button. The Password
screen appears.
- Type myxenpw and
click OK. The Password screen closes.
- Expand
the Citrix XenServer > VM node in the Activities
pane.
- Click
and drag the Get VM activity to the center design surface
beneath the connectToServer activity.
- Type ABC-XAPVS2 in
the VM Name field in the right pane.
Ensure
that the * is removed before you begin typing.
- Click
and drag the Start VM activity to the center design surface
beneath the getVM activity.
- Type XenServer_1 in
the Host name field in the right pane.
- Click
in the VM to Start field and select ListOutput from the
drop-down list.
- Click
and drag the Disconnect From Server activity to the center
design surface beneath the startVM activity.
- Click Save.
If the workflow is configured properly, the message "The build was
successful" will appear at the bottom of the Workflow Studio
Designer screen.
- Within
the XenCenter console, verify that the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual machine is shut
down.
- Within
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine, click the Start button at the top
of the Workflow Studio Designer screen. Each of the workflow activities
is tested. After all four activities are tested, the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual
machine starts.
- Close
the StartXenAppVM workflow.
- Shutdown
the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual machine.
- Within
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine, click the Security button in the
left pane of the Workflow Studio console. A warning screen appears.
- Click Yes to
register a server. The Add Server screen appears.
- Type ABC-ES1 and
click OK. The Add Server screen closes.
- Click Add
Role Assignment in the right pane. The Add role assignments to
servers screen appears.
- Click Add.
The Select Users or Groups screen appears.
- Type ABC-\Administrator in
the Object Name field and click Check Names. The Multiple Names
Found screen appears.
- Select
the Built-in Administrator account and click OK. The
Multiple Names Found screen closes.
- Click OK.
The Select Users or Groups screen closes.
- Click Next.
- Select
the following roles:
- Perform
all jobs and security operations
- Start
deployed jobs
- Schedule
deployed jobs through Task Scheduler
- Click Next.
The security updates are applied.
- Click Finish.
The Add role assignments to servers screen closes.
- Within
the Workflow Studio console, click the Workflows button in the
left pane.
- Click
the StartXenAppVM workflow and click Create Job in
the right pane. The Create New Workflow Job screen appears.
- Type ABC-ES1 in
the Server field and click Next if not automatically forwarded
to the Specify scheduling for this job screen.
- Select Custom
Schedule and click Edit Schedule. The New Task Schedule screen
appears.
- Select Once from
the Schedule Task drop-down list.
- Schedule
a task date one week from today's date and click OK. The New Task
Schedule screen closes.
- Click Finish.
The Create New Workflow Job screen closes and a new task is created.
- Minimize
the Workflow Studio console.
Part 4: Install EdgeSight Agent on XenDesktop Desktops
Shutting
Down the Virtual Desktops
Use
the following procedure to shut down the virtual desktops using the Access
Management Console on the ABC-DDC1 virtual machine.
- Log
on as a domain administrator to the ABC-DDC1 virtual machine.
- Open
the Access Management Console and expand the Desktop Delivery
Controller > ABC-_XD_Farm > Desktop
Groups nodes in the left pane.
- Click WinXP
Pool. A list of the four provisioned desktops appears.
If
all four provisioned desktops appear in the XenCenter console as Started, but
appear as 'Not Registered' in the Access Management Console, verify that the
ABC-inXP1-4 virtual machines were able to start properly. If the ABC-inXP1-4
virtual machines did not start properly, verify that the ABC-PVSRV1 and
ABC-PVSRV2 virtual machines are running on separate XenServer hosts. If
necessary, XenMotion ABC-PVSRV2 to the other XenServer host and restart the
ABC-inXP1-4 virtual machines.
- Select
all four virtual desktops and click Enable maintenance mode in the
Tasks pane. Users are now unable to connect to any of the four desktops.
- Click Shutdown/suspend in
the Task pane. The Shutdown/suspend screen appears.
- Select Shut
down and click OK. The virtual desktops shut down.
Changing
the vDisk to Private Image Mode
Use
the following procedure to change the vDisk to Private Image mode on the
ABC-PVSRV1 virtual machine.
- Log on as a
domain administrator to the ABC-PVSRV1 virtual machine.
- Open
the Provisioning Services Console.
- Expand
the ABC-_PVS_Farm > Stores nodes and
click Filer1.
- Right-click WinXPMaster and
click Properties. The vDisk Properties screen appears.
- Click Edit
File Properties. The vDisk File Properties screen appears.
- Click
the Mode tab and select Private Image from the Access
Mode drop-down list.
- Click OK.
The vDisk File Properties screen closes.
- Click OK.
The vDisk Properties screen closes.
Install
the EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent
Use
the following procedure to install the EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent on the
ABC-DDC1 virtual machine.
- Within
the Access Management Console, select the ABC-inXP1 virtual desktop and
click Disable maintenance mode in the Tasks pane.
- Click Start in
the Tasks pane. The ABC-inXP1 virtual desktop starts.
- Log
on to the ABC-inXP1 virtual machine as a domain administrator.
- Close
the Citrix XenApp authentication screen.
- Within
the XenCenter console, select ES_52.ISO in the DVD Drive
drop-down list.
- Open
My Computer.
- Right-click CD
Drive (D:) and click Open.
- Double-click AUTORUN.EXE to
launch the EdgeSight 5.2 installation. The Citrix EdgeSight 5.2
installation screen appears.
- Click EdgeSight
Agent Installers.
- Click EdgeSight
for Endpoints Agent. The Citrix EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent Setup
screen appears.
- Click Next.
The End-User License Agreement appears.
- Read
and respond to the license agreement and click Next. The Product
Information screen appears.
- Type ABC
airlinesin the Company field.
- Type Operations in
the Department field and click Next. The Agent Location screen
appears.
- Click Next to
accept the default installation locations. The Network Settings screen
appears.
- Type ABC-ES1 in
the Server Name field and click Next. The Advanced Settings screen
appears.
- Click Configure
the agent for virtual desktops.
- Type \\FILER1\EDGESIGHT in
the Remote UNC Path.
- Type WinXP
Pool in the Pool Name field.
- Type ABC-ES1 in
the Database Broker field and click Next.
- Click Install.
The Citrix EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent installation begins.
- Click Finish when
the installation completes. The Citrix EdgeSight for Endpoints Agent
Setup screen closes.
- Click Yes to
restart the ABC-inXP1 virtual machine. ABC-WinXP1 restarts.
- Log
on as a domain administrator to the ABC-inXP1 virtual machine.
- Close
the Citrix XenApp authentication screen.
- Click Start > Run .
- Type SERVICES.MSC and
click OK. The Service Control Manager screen appears.
- Right-click
the Citrix System Monitoring Agent service and
click Properties. The Citrix System Monitoring Agent Properties
screen appears.
- Select Automatic from
the Startup Type drop-down list and click OK. The Citrix System
Monitoring Agent Properties screen closes.
- Close
the Service Control Manager.
- Within
the ABC-DDC1 virtual machine, select the ABC-inXP1 virtual
desktop within the Access Management Console.
- Click Enable
maintenance mode in the Tasks pane.
- Click Yes in
the warning screen.
- Within
the ABC-inXP1 virtual machine, click Start > Shut
Down . The ABC-inXP1 virtual desktop shuts down and the changes are
saved to the vDisk.
Changing
the vDisk to Standard Image Mode
Use
the following procedure to change the vDisk to Standard Image mode on the
ABC-PVSRV1 and ABC-DDC1 virtual machines.
- Open
the Provisioning Services Console.
- Expand
the ABC-_PVS_Farm > Stores nodes and
click Filer1.
- Right-click
the WinXPMaster vDisk and click Properties. The vDisk
Properties screen appears.
- Click Edit
File Properties. The vDisk File Properties screen appears.
- Click
the Mode tab and select Standard Image from the
Access Mode drop-down list.
- Click OK.
The vDisk File Properties screen closes.
- Click OK.
The vDisk Properties screen closes.
- Within
the ABC-DDC1 virtual machine, select all four virtual desktops from the
Access Management Console.
- Click Disable
maintenance mode. Users are now able to connect to any of the four
desktops.
Part 5: Configure EdgeSight Alert Rules and Actions
Configure
an EdgeSight Server Alert Rule
Use
the following procedure to configure an EdgeSight Server Alert Rule on the
ABC-ES1 virtual machine.
- Start
the virtual machines in the following order:
- ABC-DMC1
- FILER1
- ABC-SQL1
- ABC-PVSRV1
- ABC-PVSRV2
- ABC-XAMaster
- ABC-XAPVS1
- ABC-WI1
- ABC-DDC1
- ABC-DDC2
- ABC-DDC3
- ABC-ES1
Wait
until each virtual machine is completely powered on and at the authentication
screen before powering on the next virtual machine.
2.
Log on as a domain administrator to
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine.
- Open
a browser and browse to http://ABC-ES1/EdgeSight.
- Authenticate
with the following credentials:
- E-mail
address: _ES@ABC-.Local
- Password: Password1
- Click
the Configure tab and click Company
Configuration > Alerts > Rules in the left
pane.
- Click New
Alert Rule.
- Select XenApp
Performance Alerts and click Next.
- Select
the Active Session Count High alert type and click Next.
- Type XenApp
Session Count in the Rule Name field.
- Type 2 into
the Number of active sessions field.
- Click
the Advanced parameters link.
- Select 90 from
the Poll interval drop-down list and click Next.
- Click Next.
- Click
the All node to assign the alert to all of the departments and
click Next.
- Select All to
map the alert to all of the department and click Next. There are no
checkboxes for the departments listed in this screen, but the departments
can still be selected and assigned to the Alert Action.
- Select Create
new Alert Action and click Next.
- Minimize
the EdgeSight Server browser portal. The configuration of the EdgeSight
Alert Rules and Actions will continue later in the Part.
Configure
an EdgeSight Server Alert Action
Use
the following procedure to configure an EdgeSight Server Alert Action on the
ABC-ES1 virtual machine.
- Click Start > All
Programs > Accessories > System
Tools > Task Scheduler . The Task Scheduler screen
appears.
- Click
the Task Scheduler Library node in the left pane.
- Right-click
the Citrix-WFS task in the middle pane and
click Properties. The Citrix-WFS Properties screen appears.
- Click Change
User or Group. The Select User or Group screen appears.
- Type ABC-\Administrator in
the Object Name field and click Check Names. The Multiple Names
Found screen appears.
- Select
the Administrator account located in the ABC-.Local/Users
folder and click OK. The Multiple Names Found screen closes.
- Click OK.
The Select Users or Groups screen closes.
- Select Windows
Vista or Windows Server 2008 from the Configure for drop-down list.
- Click OK.
- Type Password1 in
the Password field and click OK. The changes are saved and the
Citrix-WFS Properties screen closes.
- Right-click
the Citrix-WFS task in the middle pane of the Task Scheduler
and click Properties. The Citrix-WFS Properties screen appears.
- Click
the Actions tab and click Edit. The Edit Action screen
appears.
- Leave
these screens open and maximize the EdgeSight Server browser portal.
- Select Launch
an external executable process and click Next.
- Type StartXenAppVM
Workflow in the Name field.
- Maximize
the Citrix-WFS Properties screen and copy the text from
the Program/script field and paste it in the Full Path to
Executable on EdgeSight Server field. This path calls the
RUNSCHEDULEDJOB.EXE file, which is used by EdgeSight to run a scheduled
job from Workflow Studio.
- Type C:\Program
Files\Citrix\Workflow Studio\ in the Working Directory field.
- Provide
the following credentials:
- Windows
Run As User: Administrator
- Password: Password1
- Domain: ABC-.Local
The
user name supplied in this field must match the user name identified to create
the Workflow Runtime service.
- Type 20 in
the Timeout (seconds) field.
A
value must be set in the Timeout (seconds) field for an Action to work
correctly.
- Maximize
the Citrix-WFS Properties screen and copy the text from the Add
arguments field and paste it in the Command Line
Arguments field.
The
text copied from the Citrix-WFS Properties screen contains the Workflow Runtime
service name as well as the unique job ID value for the scheduled job.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
The StartXenAppVM Workflow Alert Action is saved.
- Login
as a domain administrator to the ABC-PVSRV1 virtual machine.
- Click Start > All
Programs > Citrix > Provisioning
Services > Provisioning Services Console . The
Provisioning Services Console appears.
- Click ABC-_PVS_Farm > Sites > Site1 > Device
Collections > XenApp Servers .
- Right-click ABC-XAPVS1 and
click Active Directory > Delete Machine Account .
The Delete Machine Accounts from Active Directory screen appears.
The
machine account passwords for the provisioned XenApp servers need to be
re-configured with the domain controller.
- Click Delete
Account. The ABC-XAPVS1 Active Directory machine account is deleted.
- Click Close.
The Delete Machine Accounts from Active Directory screen closes.
- Right-click ABC-XAPVS1 and
click Active Directory > Create Machine Account .
The Create Machine Accounts from Active Directory screen appears.
- Type XenApp,Servers in
the Organization unit field and click Create Account. The ABC-XAPVS1
Active Directory machine account is created.
Do
not include a space after the comma.
- Click Close.
The Create Machine Accounts from Active Directory screen closes.
- Restart
the ABC-XAPVS1 virtual machine and logon as a domain administrator.
- Within
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine, open a browser and browse
to http://ABC-WI1
- Authenticate
using the following credentials:
- User
name: ESLT1
- Password: Password1
- Click Word to
launch to Microsoft Word application.
It
is necessary to launch a published application to verify that the virtual
machines were turned on in the correct order and that the XenApp farm is
functioning properly.
- Close Word.
- Maximize
the EdgeSight Server browser portal.
- Click Company
Configuration > Agents > Run Worker .
- If
prompted, click Install.
- Type ABC-XAPVS1 in
the Device field and press Enter.
- Select Configuration
Check from the Worker drop-down list and click Run Worker.
Disregard any errors shown in the Last Result field.
- Within
the ABC-XAPVS1 virtual machine,
click Start > Run .
- Type %ALLUSERSPROFILE% and
click OK.
- Browse
to Citrix > System
Monitoring > Data and double-click the SYS_EVENT_TXT.TXT file.
- Scroll
to the end of the file and verify that an entry stating "Worker 105
running with trigger 0 had status of 0x00000000" exists. This
confirms that the Run Worker action performed successfully.
- Within
the XenCenter console, verify that the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual machine is shut
down.
- Within
the ABC-ES1 virtual machine, click Company
Configuration > Alerts > Actions .
- Click
the Edit icon next to the StartXenAppVM Workflow Alert Action.
- Type Password1 in
the Password field and click Test Action. The ABC-XAPVS2 virtual
machine starts within the XenCenter console.
- Within
the XenCenter console, right-click the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual
machine and click Force Shutdown.
- Click OK.
The ABC-XAPVS2 virtual machine shuts down.
Part 6: Test the Monitoring Environment
Test
the Monitoring Environment
Use the following procedure to test
the monitoring environment on the ABC-ES1 virtual machine.
- Click Start > All
Programs > Citrix > Citrix EdgeSight for Load
Testing > LT Controller . The Citrix EdgeSight for Load
Testing Controller appears.
- Read
the Before You Begin screen and click OK.
- Type Password1 in
the Load Testing Password field and click OK.
- Click File > Open and
open the ESLT Word 2007 Test test script from the desktop.
- Click Start > All
Programs > Citrix > Citrix EdgeSight for Load
Testing > LT Launcher . The EdgeSight Launcher appears.
- Minimize
the Load Testing Launcher.
- Click Test > Replay .
The EdgeSight for Load Testing test script starts.
For
the purposes of this course, the test script created in Part 1: Install the
Monitoring Tools has been modified.
- Maximize
the EdgeSight Server browser portal.
- Click
the Monitor tab.
- If
prompted, click Install.
- Click Alert
List and verify that an Alert triggered by the Active Session Count
High Alert Rule is present.
The
Alert will appear after the appropriate number of test users launch a session.
If necessary, refresh the EdgeSight Server browser portal.
If
the test script replay does not trigger an Alert in the EdgeSight Server
browser portal, stop the test script, open the ESLT Word 2007 Replacement test
script from the desktop of the ABC-ES1 virtual machine and continue.
- Verify
that the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual machine launches in the XenCenter console.
This
process may take several minutes to complete.
- Shut
down the ABC-XAPVS2 virtual machine. This step must be performed after
the EdgeSight for Load Testing test script is finished running. If
necessary, open the EdgeSight for Load Testing Controller and manually
stop the test.
